Seminar “Post-war Reconstruction in Southern Lebanon”

Fadi Shayya is invited by Al-Ofok Newsletter to participate in a round table discussion titled “Post-war 2006 Reconstruction in Southern Lebanon: Issues and Concerns”. The round table will host a number of professionals (planners, architects, sociologists and medical doctors) and stakeholders from cities, towns and villages of Southern Lebanon who will contribute to a critical discourse on the reconstruction process and a call for more concentrated efforts to respond to people’s needs.

The round table is hosted at Tyre Cultural Forum’s quarters in Tyre (Sour) on Tuesday 29 July 2008 at 6:00 PM. Proceedings are published in issue no. 8 of Al-Ofok Newsletter.

About FaDi

Fadi (1979) is a Beirut-based design strategist, spatial consultant, writer, and social activist trained in architecture and urban studies and engaged in issues of urbanism, landscape, architecture, public space, urban governance, cultural analysis, and information visualization. He is the laureate of the 2008 Basil Fuleihan Innovative Good Governance Award for his entry “Invigorating a Park in the City: Alternatives for the Good Governance of Horsh Al-Sanawbar in Beirut”. He worked with architecture firms and the United Nations (UNESCWA) before he founded DISCURSIVE FORMATIONS and Collective [34]. The former is a professional consultancy and think tank dedicated to multidisciplinary spatial & cultural analysis, intervention, and production; the latter is an analogous advocacy platform for public space & citizenship in Lebanon. Fadi holds a Master of Urban Design (MUD) from the American University of Beirut (2007) and a Bachelor in Architectural Engineering from Beirut Arab University (2002).
