Fadi Shayya is invited by the Lebanese NGO Nahwa al-Muwatiniya to be the guest speaker of a dialogue session titled “SOLIDERE or Wasat Beirut? Complexities of Politics, Space, and Place”. The discussion will tackle the present context and future prospects of downtown Beirut: its management, meaning, and symbolism, and the role of the real-estate company SOLIDERE since the post-war reconstruction process, focusing on the relation of politics to space and place such as in the case of the division among Lebanese people between Martyrs’ Square and Riad El-Solh Square after the tragic events of February 2005.
